Bhupesh Gupta is a senior financial service professional with extensive international experience across a wide range of financial and risk management products, ranging from credit risk insurance and large ticket leverage and project finance to SME, trade finance and consumer finance. During a career spanning almost 35 years with Bank of America, GE Capital and Coface, he held various senior roles in senior management, origination, credit and risk management.
At GE Capital as Chief Credit and Risk Officer for Asia Pacific, he was responsible for risk and credit oversight of businesses and joint ventures with consumer and commercial finance assets, at peak, of ~$90B in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. He was a Board director for JVs Hyundai Capital in Korea and Cosmos Bank in Taiwan, and was Chairman of the Risk Committee for GE Capital’s leasing JV in China.
Subsequently he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for Asia Pacific Region of Coface, a worldwide leader in credit insurance. It offers companies around the globe, solutions, to protect them against the risk of financial default of their clients. He was responsible for turning around the loss making Asia Pacific operations of Coface and making it one of the top credit insurers in the region. Bhupesh Gupta grew up in India where he trained as a Chartered Accountant and also obtained a law degree.
